‘Your silence is unacceptable’, Kharge and Rahul Gandhi wrote letter to PM on donation theft
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Ram Temple donation theft case, demanding an independent investigation into the matter. Rahul Gandhi said that every member of the trust was selected by your government. Your silence on this donation theft is unacceptable. It is their responsibility to fix accountability and protect the trust of the devotees.
While sharing the letter on Twitter, Rahul Gandhi wrote, ‘Prime Minister, crores of devotees offered their earnings with faith in Shri Ram Temple – the theft of donations there is no longer hidden from anyone. Every member of the Trust was selected by your government. Your silence on this donation theft is unacceptable. Immediately conduct an independent investigation, make the full account public and bring the culprits to justice. The credibility of your government now depends on your action.

The letter written on July 18 has the signatures of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. It read, ‘Honorable Prime Minister, you are aware of the theft of thousands of crores of rupees in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Lakhs of devotees who had donated their hard-earned money with faith, devotion and trust, are feeling cheated by this theft.
The government appointed the members of the trust
The letter further read, ‘You had announced the formation of the Trust in Parliament on the instructions of the Supreme Court of India, but its members were entirely appointed by your government. It is well known that the members of the Trust are associated with RSS, VHP and their associated organizations. Its disgraced former General Secretary was also your close associate. Your silence in case of such a crime is not acceptable. It is your duty to fix accountability and ensure compensation for the loss.

‘The public is watching everything’
The letter further said that we urge you to immediately order an independent and comprehensive investigation into the financial affairs of the Trust, including the management of all offerings such as cash, gold and silver. The results of the investigation and the accounts of the Trust should be made public so that every devotee can know how his offerings have been used.
Whoever is found responsible should be held accountable, irrespective of their position or influence. The credibility of your government and trust depends on how transparently and swiftly you take action. The people of India are watching everything.
