India's Yuki Bhambri and Anirudh Chandrashekhar have faced defeat in the first round of men's doubles of US Open 2026. With this, the journey of both the players in the tournament has ended. Bhambri and his New Zealand partner Michael Venus lost to the American pair of Ryan Segman and Patrick Trahak 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) in a tough match.
The defeat was disappointing for Bhambri and Venus, as both had reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year. The pair of Anirudh Chandrashekhar and Ivan Lutarevich of Belarus also lost in a tough match in the first round. Britain's Arthur Ferry and Joshua Paris defeated them 4-6, 7-5, 4-6 and made it to the next round.

Chinwen's tremendous comeback
Olympic gold medalist Zheng Chunwen made a spectacular comeback by winning her last seven games in a row to defeat 22nd seed Keyes 1-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 to enter the fourth round of the US Open. After this victory, Zheng was lying on her back on the court with her hands in the air. She was celebrating a victory that perhaps only she had expected. Keys, on the other hand, tried to hold back tears as she recounted how Zheng was able to win despite almost being eliminated from the match.
“I think I definitely started off really good and then I got so scared… I couldn't make shots,” Keys said. I do not know. Tennis seems very difficult at the moment and I think I fell under that pressure.
2017 runner-up Keys made a strong comeback after losing the second set tiebreak to take a 5-0 lead. Zheng won a game but Keys had match point when serving at 5–1. She could not capitalize on it and from here the course of the match completely changed. At one point in frustration, Keys was seen repeatedly hitting her racket on the head. “Hard work pays off,” Zheng said. Now she will face 2022 US Open champion Iga Swiatek.

Osaka also won
Naomi Osaka also made it to the fourth round by defeating Elise Mertens 6-3, 3-6, 7-5. After the last point of the match that lasted two hours and 38 minutes, two-time champion Osaka placed her head on the racket, as if the 13th seeded player herself could not believe her victory. Osaka said, 'Honestly, I can't believe that I won this match. I'm really surprised that I won.'
