New Delhi. Hundreds of people are feared to have been swept away in the devastation caused by floods in Nepal. Till the time of writing the news, 62 people have been confirmed dead while 384 tourists are missing. Of these, 291 are foreign nationals, including 105 Indian tourists. The situation is very frightening. In this hour of trouble, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following the neighboring religion, called Nepali PM Balesh Shah and expressed condolences on the loss of life and property. In this difficult time, the people of India stand in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in Nepal. Modi said that India is ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to Nepal. India is preparing to send relief material to the affected people very soon.

According to Nepali media reports, till now a large number of people including 32 policemen and 25 pilgrims are reported missing. Meaning contact with them has been cut off. Helicopters have safely rescued 12 people. Many hydro power projects have been washed away.

A helpline number has also been issued by the Indian High Commission located in Nepal. For help and information related to Indian citizens affected by the flash floods in Nepal, they can contact emergency numbers +977 985 131 6807- 977 970 910 7500. Nepal government has deployed 14 helicopters in rescue. On the other hand, due to the floods in Nepal, there is a danger of floods in some districts of Bihar and UP. In view of this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and UP CM Yogi Adityanath and took stock of the situation. The place where the devastation has occurred due to Trishuli river is said to be about 160 kilometers away from the India-Nepal border. In such a situation, there is a possibility of this flood reaching Gandak and Kosi rivers.

On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the tragedy in Nepal. In view of the increase in the water level of Gandak and Narayani rivers in Maharajganj and Kushinagar districts of Uttar Pradesh due to the impact of this flood and the possibility of flood, the CM has instructed the local administration to be fully alert and ensure necessary preparations.
