A news has come to light which has increased the concern of the people of Pimpri-Chinchwad before the festival season. Information has been received that swine flu has entered Pimpri Chinchwad. One patient was found in January, five in July and suddenly 31 patients were found in August, due to which an atmosphere of concern has been created in the city. The good thing is that the condition of all the patients is stable, so the people of the city do not need to panic. However, the municipal administration has appealed to take necessary precautions.
Meanwhile, in the last six years, 58 patients were infected with swine flu in 2022, then 34 patients were found in August. After that, 15 patients got infected in 2024 and now swine flu has once again raised its head. However, looking at the trend of the last six years, there is no need to panic. But, one should avoid going in crowd during Ganeshotsav, it would be better to wear a mask and keep washing hands. After that, if you have cold, cough or fever, consult a doctor at the municipal hospital. The medical officers of the Municipal Corporation have given the same advice.
What actually causes swine flu?
Swine flu, also known as swine influenza, is an acute respiratory disease in pigs that is later transmitted to humans by the H1N1 type of flu, the Influenza A virus. Swine flu viruses spread to humans mainly when an infected person sneezes or coughs. The virus spreads when a person touches or comes into contact with something infected with the virus, or touches the nose, mouth, and surrounding areas of an infected person. Swine flu spreads for the first five days of the disease. This rate may increase in small children and the elderly. Therefore, consult a doctor immediately if symptoms appear.
Symptoms and causes
- Cold, fever and difficulty in breathing are its common symptoms.
- Along with pneumonia, it can also cause other symptoms like sore throat, persistent cough, runny nose, watery eyes, headache, diarrhea and extreme fatigue.
- Be more careful while going to crowded places.
- Elderly people, pregnant women and patients with co-morbidities like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, kidney and liver disease, respiratory diseases, etc. should be more careful.
- A person suffering from H1N1 symptoms should isolate himself and immediately consult a nearby doctor, avoid self-medication at home.
