Indian women boxers put on a stellar performance at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, winning a flurry of gold medals on a single day. On Saturday evening, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, and Arundhati Chaudhary won their respective final bouts, giving India three consecutive gold medals. These gold medals have further strengthened India’s medal tally.
All three boxers performed brilliantly in their respective weight categories. Sakshi Chaudhary (51 kg), Priya Ghanghas (60 kg), and Arundhati Chaudhary (70 kg) won gold medals, raising the tricolor high. The Indian camp celebrated three consecutive gold medals, and the athletes’ performances were widely praised.
Sakshi defeated Ruby White 5-0
In the final of the women’s 51 kg category, Sakshi Chaudhary defeated England’s Ruby White by a unanimous 5-0 decision. Throughout the bout, she gave her opponent no chance with her excellent defense and precise counter-punches. All five judges unanimously ruled in Sakshi’s favor. This victory was another major milestone in her stellar year. Previously, she had won gold medals at the World Boxing Cup and the Grand Prix held in the Czech Republic. She also made headlines by defeating two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen in the selection trials.
Priya defeated Canadian boxer
In the women’s 60kg category final, Priya Ghanghas defeated Canada’s Marie-Bathul Al-Ahmadieh by a 4-1 split decision. The bout was intense, with both boxers locked in a close contest until the final round. However, Priya landed some powerful punches in the crucial moments, earning her a 4-1 win over all four judges. She had previously made a remarkable comeback in the quarterfinals and defeated England’s Lucy Kings-Wheatley 5-0 in the semifinals.
Arundhati defeated Chantelle Reed
In the women’s 70kg final, Arundhati Choudhary defeated England’s Chantelle Reid by a unanimous 5-0 decision to give India another boxing gold medal. She dominated the bout from the first round. After the second round, all the judges were in her favor, and even in the final round, she didn’t give her opponent any chance to make a comeback. With Arundhati’s victory, India recorded its best-ever boxing performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
