It’s still not the horror season, but Netflix has got you covered if you are looking for an unpredictable, build around the tension thrilling, not a scary horror.
From Alex North’s psychological thriller to Riley Chung’s starring science fiction thriller, we have covered the top three binge-worthy thrillers that will keep you on the edge.
The Whisper Man (2026)

The Whisper Man (2026)
Netflix’s upcoming crime thriller The Whisper Man has several elements that could make it a major hit. Based on Alex North’s novel of the same name, the film combines a gripping mystery with a disturbing serial-killer storyline and a star-studded cast. Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott and Michael Keaton headline the film.
The story centres on Tom Kennedy (Scott), a widowed crime writer whose young son is abducted, forcing him to confront a nightmare that could have come from one of his own novels. Tom turns to his estranged father (De Niro), a retired police detective, for help. Their investigation soon uncovers a connection to a decade-old serial killer known as the Whisper Man, putting them in a race against time to save Tom’s son.
Ballad of a Small Player (2025)

Set amid the dazzling casinos of Macau, Ballad of a Small Player follows Lord Doyle (Colin Farrell), a gambler whose mounting debts have left him desperate for an escape. His situation takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious casino employee (Fala Chen) offers him a chance to change his fortunes at the baccarat table.
Doyle, however, cannot simply gamble his problems away. A private investigator, played by Tilda Swinton, is also pursuing him, adding further pressure to his increasingly complicated situation. Directed by Edward Berger, who previously helmed All Quiet on the Western Front, the psychological thriller is based on Lawrence Osborne’s 2014 novel.
The Last House (2026)

The Last House puts a terrifying spin on the idea of home being a place of safety. Jason (Wagner Moura), Ann (Greta Lee) and their two children suddenly find themselves physically sealed inside their suburban home by an unexplained force. With no clear way out, the family must find a way to survive together.
As their resources gradually run low, maintaining their safety and sanity becomes increasingly difficult. The situation grows even more terrifying when they realise that the mysterious force keeping them trapped may be lurking just beyond the walls. Riley Chung, Emma Ho, Noah Alexander Sosnowski and Gabriel Barbosa also feature in the sci-fi thriller.
