New Delhi: The bravery of Indian pilot Smit Machar in the stabbing incident in flydubai flight FZ1073 going from Dubai to Tel Aviv is being discussed everywhere. Despite being stabbed, he saved the plane from crashing. But apart from Smit, there were 4 more people in this flight who saved the lives of all the passengers by risking their lives.
According to Israeli officials, Smit was among those who snatched control of the plane from the attacker without caring for themselves. According to Ynet News, four Israeli civilians quickly ran towards the cockpit and helped subdue the attacking co-pilot. After this, two pilots who were not on duty took over the plane and landed it safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.
Cockpit lock opened even after being drenched in blood
Indian pilot Smit Machar was attacked with a knife by the co-pilot. Despite being drenched in blood, he did not lose courage and opened the cockpit lock so that the passengers and crew could come inside and help. Because of this a major accident was averted. After the emergency signal, the flight was diverted to Tabuk and he is currently undergoing treatment there.
Plumber Yaniv Hayun showed courage
Israel’s PM Office has shared a video, in which Netanyahu is meeting Yaniv Hayun at Tel Aviv Airport. Hayun, a plumber by profession, had blood stains on his shirt, but he said he was not injured. He entered the cockpit and removed the attacker from the controls and helped correct the plane’s course.
The scene was like a horror movie
Insurance agency owner Asaf Rajuan was returning from Thailand after holidays. He told that suddenly the plane started going down at an angle of 90 degrees and the atmosphere became like a horror film. He told that the cockpit door was open and there was blood inside. He and some people including Zvika Mains overpowered the attacker.
Bank Leumi CEO Zvika Manes said she helped tie up the attacker with a headphone cable found on the flight. He said that there was screaming all around and the plane was falling rapidly.
Dentist saved captain’s life
The only doctor on board, dentist Shota Musayev, first helped subdue the attacker and then treated the injured captain. He said the captain was bleeding profusely from his head and hands, which he tried to stop and kept him stable until landing.
