Technology Desk – 5G User Base in India: Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has stated that India is rapidly moving toward a digital revolution. Currently, approximately 500 million people in the country are using 5G services, and this number could double to 1 billion in the coming years. The government is also focusing on developing 6G technology and strengthening telecom manufacturing.
The scope of 5G is expanding rapidly
The expansion of 5G networks in India is steadily accelerating. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that millions of people in the country are already taking advantage of 5G services, and that approximately 1 billion people are projected to be connected to this network by 2030. According to him, India is now moving towards becoming not just a consumer of new technology, but also a country that develops and delivers it to the world.
Government’s big focus on 6G technology
Scindia said the government is now focused on next-generation 6G technology. India wants to play a key role in the development of this future technology and in setting global standards. To this end, the country is actively working with international telecom standards-setting organizations.
Not just the internet, AI and smart systems will also be connected
According to the Union Minister, 6G technology will be far more advanced than existing networks. It will feature faster internet, artificial intelligence, smart devices, and digital systems that will be better connected. In the future, not only people but also machines, sensors, and AI-based systems will be able to operate faster on the same network.
Madhya Pradesh to have its first telecom manufacturing zone
The government has announced the establishment of the first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Madhya Pradesh to promote the manufacturing of telecom equipment in the country. Its objective is to increase the production of advanced telecom equipment in India and develop the country as a global manufacturing hub. The government is also continuously implementing new schemes to increase domestic production of mobile and telecom equipment.
Data becomes cheaper, digital access increases
Scindia said that India’s telecom sector has undergone significant transformation in the past few years. The number of mobile connections in the country has reached nearly 1.33 billion. Internet data, which once cost more than 250 rupees per GB, is now available for an average of around 8 rupees per GB. This has led to a rapid increase in the use of digital services.
Sanchar Saathi app becomes a companion for digital security
The Union Minister stated that the government’s Sanchar Saathi app has been downloaded nearly 25 million times so far. This app helps people block stolen mobile phones, identify fake mobile connections, and protect against cyber fraud. The government aims to strengthen citizens’ security along with digital services.
India Mobile Congress completes 10 years
Scindia said that the completion of 10 years of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) is a major milestone for the Indian telecom industry. According to him, the event is no longer limited to India, but has also become an important platform for telecom, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation companies around the world.
