Evm Tampering In Falta Bjp Button Was Covered With Tape

Falta assembly seat in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal has become the center of a major controversy just before and on the day of voting. This seat comes under the Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented by Abhishek Banerjee. The atmosphere here was already tense after the confrontation between Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Jahangir Khan and Special Police Supervisor Ajay Pal Sharma. A tape has reportedly been found placed in front of the BJP button in the electronic voting machine.

Allegations of irregularities and tampering in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) came to light. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Debanshu Panda alleged that TMC workers deliberately tried to stop voters from voting in their favour.

According to Panda, the EVM button in front of his name and election symbol was not working at many polling stations. He claimed that this button was deliberately jammed so that voters could not vote in his favor. Meanwhile, some videos also surfaced on social media, in which it has been claimed that tapes have allegedly been placed near the names of BJP and CPM candidates. However, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) has not yet given any official response on this matter.

Political tension has increased in the region regarding these allegations, although these claims have not been officially confirmed yet. Considering the matter as serious, state election officials have ordered an investigation. The Election Commission of India has clarified that if the complaint of tampering with the EVM or taping on the button is found to be true, then re-polling will be conducted at the concerned polling stations.

According to sources, this complaint came from booth number 144, while allegations were also made regarding booths number 170 and 189. However, preliminary information states that after receiving the complaint, the EVM machines were found to be working normally.

Amidst this entire incident, the situation in Falta is currently said to be under control. Jahangir Khan is keeping an eye on the situation by staying in his party office. At the same time, the administration and central forces are deployed to maintain peace in the area. These allegations that came to light during the election process have once again raised questions about fair voting, while the final decision will now depend on the investigation report and the action of the Election Commission.
