Jewelery worth crores stolen: Salesgirl and her mastermind lover arrested for stealing jewelery worth ₹1.66 crore
Gujarat, Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad city police has made a big revelation in the high-profile jewelery theft case of ₹1.66 crore reported from Nikol area. Along with salesgirl Harshida Shetty, who had stolen about 1.25 kg of gold from Abhushan Jewelers showroom, the police has now put her mastermind lover Mayur Mali behind the bars. At present, both the accused are still in jail but recovering gold worth crores of rupees still remains the biggest challenge for the police. This entire incident is like a suspense-thriller film which involves love, greed, conspiracy and finally a big betrayal.

One and a quarter kilo gold hidden in uniform was stolen
According to police investigation, the accused woman, Harshida Shetty, is originally from Rajasthan and was working as a salesgirl in Nicole’s showroom for the last 11 months. Meanwhile, she had an affair with married Mayur Mali who is a resident of Uttar Pradesh. After this both of them planned to start a new life away from Gujarat. As per the plan, when the showroom owner went home for lunch in the afternoon, Harshida took out the gold chain, rings and mangalsutra from the safe, hid them in her uniform and bag and then fled from the showroom.
Traveling by bullet to the states and cheating in the hotel
After committing the theft, both the accused fled on a Bullet motorcycle to Delhi via Rajasthan, avoiding the eyes of the police. They kept throwing dust in the eyes of the police by staying in hotels in different cities. But the real twist in the story came when Harshida went to take bath in a hotel in Delhi. As soon as she went to the bathroom, her unfaithful boyfriend Mayur Mali ran away with a bag full of jewelery worth crores, leaving her alone.

Accused in police custody
After a few days, when Harshida ran out of money, she was forced to return to Ahmedabad and tried to sell her remaining jewelery in Manik Chowk, when the crime branch present at the spot caught her. Harshida was devastated by betrayal in love and she revealed all the secrets of Mayur Mali to the police. After this information, with the help of technical surveillance, the police also arrested Mayur Mali from Ahmedabad Ring Road. Police have so far recovered only ₹38 lakh worth of jewelery from the duo and the remaining jewelery worth around ₹1.28 crore is still missing. At present, the police are taking both the accused on remand and interrogating them closely so that they can find out where the remaining gold has been hidden or to whom it has been sold.
