Padma Bhushan Dr. Subhash Kashyap, deeply knowledgeable about the Constitution and Parliament, passes away at the age of 97.

New Delhi. The country’s renowned constitutional expert, parliamentary affairs expert and Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap passed away. He breathed his last at his residence at the age of 97. According to the information, he died due to cardio-pulmonary arrest. Dr. Kashyap was counted among the most eminent experts on the Indian Constitution and parliamentary system. He was born on 10 May 1929 and during his long public life, he made significant contributions to strengthening Parliament and democratic institutions.

He started his career from the Parliament Secretariat in the year 1953. After this, he remained associated with Parliament for about 37 years, discharging various responsibilities. Between 1984 and 1990, he served as the Secretary General of the 7th, 8th and 9th Lok Sabha. During this period, he played an important role in making the parliamentary processes and administrative system effective.

Dr. Kashyap also wrote many important books and research works on the Constitution, parliamentary functioning and constitutional law. His expertise was respected not only in the country but also at the international level. He was also associated with the leadership of the Geneva-based International Center for Parliamentary Documentation (IPU). There is a wave of mourning in the political, academic and parliamentary world due to his death. His commitment to democratic values ​​and constitutional traditions will always be remembered.
