Iran adamant on key points of MoU before final agreement!
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to carrying forward the process of implementing the other side’s commitments with all seriousness and caution. The discussion at the meeting mainly focused on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, as well as the issue of Iran’s oil exports and the implementation of the issue of freeing Iran’s frozen assets,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghees said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’. The proposed steps will also be reviewed.”
Spokesman Ismail Baghei said that the purpose of the meeting to be held in Switzerland on Sunday is to review the implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on ending the war on June 18 and take further action.
He said that as per the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, the condition for starting negotiations for the final agreement is that the main points 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 of the MoU should be implemented first. Especially Point 1, which includes ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon. Without these provisions coming into force, it is not possible to enter into the negotiation phase on a final agreement.
An Iranian delegation reached Switzerland late Saturday night for talks with the US.
“We welcome the arrival of the Iranian delegation to Switzerland. The Iranian delegation is visiting the Bürgenstock resort as part of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the US and Iran,” the Swiss Foreign Ministry wrote on social media platform X.
Meanwhile, according to Iran’s state-run IRIB TV, the negotiating delegation from Iran has reached Switzerland. News agency Xinhua reported that the codename of the Iranian delegation is ‘Minab 168’.
