Shivraj Singh Chauhan reached Arunachal, aerial survey stopped due to bad weather; Will be among the flood victims throughout the day tomorrow

Shivraj Singh Chouhan Northeast Visit: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan reached Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday, where he was proposed to conduct an aerial survey of flood affected areas. However, the helicopter could not take off due to bad weather, forcing the aerial inspection to be postponed.

Despite this, the Union Minister made it clear that there will be no let-up in the review of relief work. He announced that on July 1, a day-long ground and air tour of the flood affected areas of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam will be conducted to take detailed stock of the situation. During this time, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and the Chief Minister of the state will also be present with him.

Met flood victims, assured all possible help to farmers

After reaching Itanagar, Shivraj Singh Chauhan first met the people, farmers and public representatives coming from the flood affected areas. During this time, people reported waterlogging in fields, damage to crops, loss of livestock and damage to houses. The Union Minister listened to everyone’s problems seriously and assured that the Central Government will not let any affected family be deprived of assistance. He said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands strongly with the farmers and villagers of the North-East and all necessary support will be provided.

Review meeting with officials, emphasis on relief and rehabilitation

In a high-level meeting held at Itanagar Secretariat, Shivraj Singh Chouhan discussed in detail the flood situation, relief operations, rehabilitation plans and future strategy with senior officials of the Arunachal Pradesh government. He directed the officials to expedite relief distribution and provide timely assistance to the affected people. He said that after comprehensively assessing the damage caused by the natural disaster, the Central Government will provide all possible economic and administrative support, so that normalcy can be restored in the affected areas soon.

Damage will be assessed through aerial survey, focus will be on farmers’ problems

Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that on July 1, he will visit the flood affected districts of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. He will meet people living in relief camps and visit farmers’ fields to directly observe the impact on crops, livestock and rural life. Aerial survey of rivers, embankments, roads and agricultural areas will also be conducted by helicopter. In the evening, a meeting will be held in Guwahati with senior officials of the Assam government to discuss relief distribution, repair of embankments, flood management and measures to provide financial assistance to farmers.

‘Will leave no stone unturned’, emphasis will also be on long term solutions

While talking to the media, Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that Arunachal Pradesh is currently facing a severe natural disaster. Due to heavy rains and landslides, roads, bridges and many houses have been damaged, while crops like orange, banana and paddy have been completely destroyed. He said that on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he will visit the affected areas and assess the actual situation and ensure all possible assistance from the Central Government.

He also said that the government aims not only to provide immediate relief but also work on long-term plans like better drainage systems, strong embankments, safe relief camps and effective crop insurance to reduce damage caused by floods in future. Appealing to the flood affected people to remain patient, he assured that the Central and State governments will work together with full commitment to get the state out of this crisis.
