Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra: Stampede like situation in Puri Rath Yatra, one devotee died due to suffocation, about 100 people injured
Puri. A stampede-like situation has arisen on Thursday during the world famous Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri district of Odisha. One devotee died in this incident, while around 100 people are said to be injured. The devotee who has died. It has come to light that he was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition after having trouble breathing, where doctors declared him dead.

According to the information, devotees were waiting for the darshan of the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra at Bada Danda (Grand Road) and to pull the chariots. Meanwhile, due to the huge crowd, suddenly a scuffle started, resulting in a stampede-like situation. Many devotees fell down and chaos broke out.
Immediately after the incident, teams of police, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and health department reached the spot. The injured were taken to Puri District Headquarters Hospital and other medical centers through ambulances. The administration claimed to have brought the situation under control quickly and additional security forces have been deployed to control the crowd. However, the administration has not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the official number of injured and the reasons for the incident. The case is being investigated.
