Sharad Pawar broke silence on NCP merger and entry into NDA, said – now is not the time for this question

Sharad Pawar has not yet given any clear answer amid discussions about the possible merger of both the factions of NCP in Maharashtra politics and joining NDA. He said that it is not appropriate to raise questions on this issue now.

Knews Desk- The stir in Maharashtra politics has once again intensified. Amid ongoing speculations about possible unity between the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)’s Sharad Pawar faction and Ajit Pawar faction, discussions about joining the NDA are also gaining momentum. However, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar refused to say anything directly on these speculations.

When Sharad Pawar was asked whether his party could become a part of NDA after the merger of the two factions of NCP, he avoided the question. Sharad Pawar said that it is not appropriate to ask such questions at this time.

BJP put the condition of merger

Actually, for the last few days, discussions are going on to change the political equation in Maharashtra. These speculations were further fueled after the meeting of Sharad Pawar and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. At the same time, BJP has indicated that there can be a possibility of joining NDA only if both the factions of NCP come together.

According to sources, the BJP leadership is also considering giving representation in the central government to create a balance between the two factions. However, for this it is said that the merger of both the groups as one party is necessary.

Supriya Sule also put an end to merger discussions

Earlier, while reacting to the possibility of merger of the two factions of NCP, Supriya Sule had said that now these discussions have come to a complete stop. He had said that Ajit Pawar’s last wish was that both the factions of the family and the party should come together again and serve Maharashtra and the country.

Supriya Sule said that even after the demise of Ajit Pawar, there was a feeling of solidarity from her side, but no positive signal was received from the other side. Therefore, there is no point in pursuing this issue now.

NCP was divided into two parts in 2023

It is noteworthy that there was a major split in NCP in the year 2023. Ajit Pawar broke away from Sharad Pawar and supported the BJP-Shiv Sena government along with his supporting MLAs. After this, the Election Commission handed over the name and election symbol of the party to the Ajit Pawar faction.

Sharad Pawar’s group is running political activities in the name of ‘Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar)’.

Equations changed after Ajit Pawar’s death

After the death of Ajit Pawar in the plane crash, new equations have started forming in the politics of Maharashtra. Before his demise, there were intense discussions about the two NCP factions coming together again. Both the parties had also contested the local body elections together at some places.

However, after the death of Ajit Pawar, these talks stopped and now a period of political speculation continues regarding the future strategy.
