New Delhi. The 15-member Australia A women’s cricket team, which will tour India next month, announced its 15-member squad on Tuesday.
Experienced fast bowlers Tayla Vlaeminck and Darcie Brown will lead the team’s fast bowling attack. The three-week tour will see the two teams play three T20Is, three ODIs, and one four-day match.
All three T20Is will be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The three ODIs will be played at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, while the four-day match will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamsala.
With this tour, 27-year-old fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck will return to competitive international cricket after a long absence. Her career has been severely hampered by injuries.
She made her comeback in the Green vs. Gold practice match in April, which was her first match since suffering a serious shoulder injury during the 2024 T20 World Cup. In April of this year, Cricket Australia terminated her central contract due to persistent injuries.
Darcie Brown was not included in the Australian squad for the T20 World Cup. In her absence, left-arm fast bowler Lucy Hamilton cemented her place in the team. Now, Brown will have a chance to prove herself again with the Australia A team.
National selector Shawn Flegler said, “It’s a great pleasure to see Tyla back in the green and gold jersey and Darcie’s return. Both have international experience, and the young players will have a great opportunity to learn from them.”
He added, “This tour is a great opportunity for players to play in subcontinental conditions and test themselves against strong international opponents.
Experience in Indian conditions early in their careers is crucial for future international cricket.”
Tahlia Wilson will captain the team in the ODI series, while Nicole Faltom will captain the T20 team and Rachel Trenaman will captain Australia A in the four-day match.
More than half of the team is 25 years of age or younger, including 21-year-old all-rounder Frankie Nicklin and Sienna Ginger.
