18 stations will remain closed in Delhi today, see the complete list before setting out on a journey.

New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has taken strict security measures amid the ongoing protests by Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar in the national capital. DMRC has shared information that it has been decided to keep 18 important metro stations of Delhi closed from 7:30 am on Saturday, July 25 till further orders. It is a matter of relief that passengers will continue to get the facility to change lines at stations like Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.

Which metro stations will be affected?

According to the official information given by DMRC on social media platform ‘X’, many busy metro stations of Central, South and New Delhi have come under the purview of this ban.

List of major stations that remain closed

Rajiv Chowk, Barakhamba Road, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Jhandewalan, Shivaji Stadium and New Delhi. Lok Kalyan Marg, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth. Supreme Court, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market and Jor Bagh.

Passenger journey changed due to metro closure

The traffic system in Central Delhi has broken down since last Thursday and Friday. To control the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi Police has installed permanent barricades on many major roads. Due to the closure of the metro and route diversion on the roads, drivers are facing heavy traffic jams. Due to sudden closure of entry and exit of the metro, passengers are facing great inconvenience. According to daily commuters, now they are taking about 40 to 45 minutes more than usual to reach their destination.

Double blow to office going employees

Many important government ministries, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Prime Minister’s Residence and other administrative departments are located around Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO and Seva Tirtha. Every day thousands of employees take the metro to reach these offices, who now have to walk or look for other options.

17 stations were closed yesterday

Along with this, train passengers going to New Delhi Railway Station and lawyers reaching the Supreme Court complex are also facing difficulties in catching their trains and reaching the court on time due to the blockade. It is noteworthy that a day before this, i.e. on 24th July, DMRC had kept 17 stations closed due to security reasons. Due to which the pace of the capital has remained slow for two days.
