T20I: Men in Blue plays Zimbabwe today – Tezzbuzz

Harare, July 25:

India national cricket team will look to seal the series when they take on Zimbabwe national cricket team in the second T20I at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

After a convincing seven-wicket victory in the opening match, India lead the three-match series 1-0 and are aiming for an unassailable advantage. The win marked a strong turnaround for the visitors, who had recently suffered series defeats against Ireland and England.

Led by Shreyas Iyer, India delivered a clinical performance in the first T20I. Chasing a modest target of 126, the team cruised to victory with more than six overs to spare. Youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi starred with a blistering 19-ball fifty, becoming the youngest player to score a T20I half-century. Contributions from Ishan Kishan (35) and an unbeaten 28 from Shreyas Iyer ensured a comfortable chase.

India’s bowling unit also impressed, with Mayank Yadav making a strong comeback after injury layoffs, picking up crucial wickets with pace and precision. Prince Yadav chipped in with two wickets, while debutant Ashok Sharma showed promise despite going wicketless.

The team management, with VVS Laxman at the helm for the series, would be encouraged by the collective performance, especially from the young pace attack.

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing batting display in the first game.
