The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday questioned how the name of Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha appeared in Delhi's electoral roll after his name was allegedly absent from the August 31 draft roll, while he had publicly stated on September 3 that he was a voter in Punjab.
Addressing a press conference, AAP National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and demanded that the Election Commission explain when and through what procedure Chadha's name was added to the Rajinder Nagar electoral roll.
Dhanda said the August 31 draft roll showed 746 voters at the concerned booth, with Chadha's name absent. He claimed the same booth now showed 747 voters, with Chadha appearing at serial number 747, and questioned how such an addition could have been made after publication of the draft roll.
Dhanda referred to Chadha's September 3 statement that his name had been deleted from Punjab's draft electoral roll and that he would submit a claim under the SIR process to have his vote registered there. Based on this, Dhanda argued that Chadha was not presenting himself as a Delhi voter at that time.
The AAP leader also cited Election Commission Form 9, which, he said, contains details of new Form 6 applications, and claimed Chadha's name did not appear in the relevant Form 9 records from September 3 onwards.
Dhanda alleged that if the name was added without following the prescribed procedure, it would raise serious questions about transparency in the SIR exercise. He demanded that the Election Commission clarify whether Chadha's vote was transferred from Punjab to Delhi, whether his EPIC number remains the same, and whether Form 6 was filed for the alleged addition.
The AAP also demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter and said any electoral roll changes must follow the prescribed legal and procedural framework.
