Target to increase the share of trauma beds from 12 to 15 percent
Yogi government plans to develop Unified Emergency Care Architecture for Child Trauma. Its basis is to provide timely and coordinated medical care to a seriously injured child at every level, from the accident site to first aid, trauma centre, specialist treatment and follow-up care. This will reduce the delay in treatment and the extra time taken in sending the patient from one hospital to another. At present the share of trauma beds in emergency departments is around 3 to 5 percent, while the target is to take it to 12 to 15 percent through integrated trauma care. Under this, there is a plan to develop a network of different levels of trauma facilities in the state. In this, one Level-1, 36 Level-2 and 126 Level-3 Integrated Trauma and Emergency Units (ITEMU) will be developed. This will create a total of 173 interconnected facilities and add about 2,853 new beds. Its objective is to provide prompt specialist treatment to seriously injured children as per the need.
Special focus on treatment in 'Golden Hour'
In pediatric trauma, the initial response time is critical, hence the emphasis is on combining immediate post-accident response, trained medical teams, ambulance connectivity and rapid referral to appropriate trauma centres. In this, special attention will be given to providing treatment during the 'golden hour'. For this, the system of trained medical team, ambulance connectivity and rapid transportation to the appropriate trauma center will be strengthened. Yogi government will spend about Rs 45 crore for this.
