Germany's Alexander Zverev won the US Open Men's Singles title on Sunday (September 13). He won his second Grand Slam title of this year by defeating Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 in the final match played at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. This match lasted for 3 hours and 33 minutes.
Zverev had earlier won the French Open title. Now he has also become US Open champion for the first time. More than his title win, his reaction during the final is making headlines. In fact, Shelton's shot went out due to a forehand mistake on match point and Zverev won the match but he did not celebrate immediately. He was seen preparing for the next point.
Zverev did not know that he had won. As soon as he realized from the noise of the spectators present at Arthur Ashe Stadium that he had become the champion, he raised both his hands and celebrated the victory. He then met Shelton, disappointed with the loss. Shelton was one win away from becoming the first American men's player to win a Grand Slam since 2003, but his dream could not be fulfilled.

Zverev was defeated 6 years ago
Zverev had also reached the US Open final 6 years ago but he had to face a heart-breaking defeat at the hands of Dominic Thiem. He had taken a two-set lead in the 2020 final. But after this he lost his rhythm. This time too, Zverev had won the first two sets of the final by 6-3, 7-2 but Shelton brought back old memories by making a comeback in the third set, but World No. 2 Zverev took the lead in the beginning of the fourth set and won the title by winning this set 6-2.
