Rajya Sabha’s mathematics will change due to election shocks! Know whose strength will increase, who will become weak?
Election Result 2026: A big political change can be seen in the Rajya Sabha in the coming times. Assembly Due to the impact of elections, there is a possibility of reshuffle on 15 seats from next year. Biennial elections will be held in Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next two years, while there will be no Rajya Sabha elections in West Bengal before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
Between 2029 and 2032, elections will be held simultaneously for all 16 seats in the state. Despite losing the elections in West Bengal, All India Trinamool Congress will not suffer any loss till 2029, because till then no Rajya Sabha seat is falling vacant.
What will be the impact of these elections in Rajya Sabha?
After these elections, there may be a change in the number of parties in Rajya Sabha. The seats of Indian National Congress can increase from the current 29 to 32. Bharatiya Janata Party may gain one seat and its total number may go up to 114. Whereas the seats of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam are expected to reduce from 8 to 7. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam may get entry in Rajya Sabha for the first time and may get three seats in its account. On the other hand, the number of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is likely to reduce from 6 to 5.

Congress led United Democratic Front can get a big advantage in Kerala. A total of six seats will be voted in the biennial elections to be held in 2027 and 2028, out of which three seats each will be held in both the years. To win a seat, 36 votes are required. In the current situation, Left Democratic Front has 35 MLAs, due to which the Congress alliance is likely to get an edge. With this, Congress may get a net gain of four seats from the state.
What is the condition in Assam?
Political equations seem to be changing in Assam also. Bharatiya Janata Party can win both the seats in the biennial elections to be held in 2028, which will give it an additional advantage of one seat from the state. The biggest upheaval can be seen in Tamil Nadu, where elections will be held on six seats in 2028. At present, Congress has one MP in these seats, DMK has three and AIADMK has two MPs, but the equation may change after the elections. The National Democratic Alliance may retain its only seat in the 2027 biennial elections in Puducherry.
