Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP’s Rekha Gupta government for imposing strict conditions on the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. He said the BJP government should learn from the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab. The AAP government did not impose any conditions in Punjab.
The example given by the Punjab government
If there are four women in a household, all are eligible for the Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Scheme. However, the Delhi government has imposed strict conditions, including proof of residence for 10 years and approval from an MP or MLA. This clearly indicates that they intend to extend the scheme’s benefits to very few women. If the BJP government’s intentions were clear, it would not have imposed so many conditions and would have extended the benefits to all women.
On the issue of the strict conditions of the Lakshmi Yojana and the mandatory approval of MPs and MLAs, Arvind Kejriwal said that it is clear that they only want to provide this benefit to BJP members, not to others. The conditions that they have imposed, such as a 10-year residency and the need for MPs and MLA approval, indicate that they are not interested in providing this benefit, but only in politics.
Based on the conditions they’ve imposed, not even 10 percent of Delhi’s women will benefit. In Punjab, we didn’t impose any conditions; if there are four women in a household, all four will benefit. We didn’t discriminate between rich and poor, or based on caste. Just as we’re providing benefits to everyone in Punjab with clear intentions, we should do the same in Delhi if our intentions are clear.
