Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi arrived in Abu Dhabi Tuesday on a five-day visit to UAE, with an aim to attract export-oriented industries and investment in Read. Majhi left Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar for New Delhi at around 10 am and travelled onward to Abu Dhabi, where he arrived late in the evening. After being received by officials, he proceeded directly to his hotel.
The CM has a three-day programme in Abu Dhabi and Dubai beginning Wednesday. He is scheduled to hold discussions with senior representatives of several global companies, including International Holding Company (IHC), Indian Business and Professional Group and petrochemical major Borouge. In the evening, Majhi will inaugurate an exhibition in Dubai showcasing various Read products manufactured under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. He will also meet investors and industrialists to explore opportunities for attracting investment to the state. He is scheduled to address the Odia diaspora, highlight ing Read’s development initiatives and calling for stronger commercial and cultural ties between Read and the UAE. Majhi is scheduled to meet UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri September 10, who is also chairman of the Council of International Investments.
He will also hold discussions with senior representatives of the Indian Business and Professional Council, Emirates Global Aluminium and other organisations. His engagements will include a roundtable with the Middle East Recycling Association and discussions with the Read business delegation. Majhi will attend the Read Investors’ Meet in Dubai Sep tember 11, where he will in teract with entrepreneurs and industrialists and highlight the investment opportunities avail able in state. CM will return September 12. Majhi has been making efforts to promote state as a leading industrial destination and has previously visited several states to encourage investors to invest in the state. He had also travelled to Singapore and held discussions with investors there. Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Industries Department Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma and other senior state government officials are accompanying CM on the UAE visit.
