Gunpoint robbery worth Rs 1.5 crore exposed in Delhi, 5 accused arrested; One crore cash recovered

Delhi Police: The Central District Police of Delhi Police has arrested five accused while cracking the case of gunpoint robbery worth Rs 1.5 crore. The police have recovered the looted amount of about Rs 1 crore, the motorcycle used in the crime, the mobile phone purchased with the looted money and a pistol-like lighter from the possession of the accused.

Looted Rs 1.5 crore by stopping TSR

The matter is of 7 September 2026. A payment collector along with his colleague was going to Safdarjung with about Rs 3 crore from TSR. Both of them had two bags, in which about Rs 1.5 crore each were kept. Three miscreants riding a black Splendor bike stopped the TSR near Geetanjali Colony flyover.

It is alleged that the miscreants threatened both of them by showing a pistol-like object and looted about Rs 1.5 crore kept in a bag and fled towards ITO. In this case, FIR was registered in Daryaganj police station and investigation was started.

Clue found from CCTV and technical surveillance

Considering the seriousness of the matter, a joint team of Daryaganj police station, special staff and AATS was formed. The team examined CCTV footage of the incident site and the possible route of the accused. Along with this, the accused were identified with the help of technical surveillance and field intelligence.

According to the police, after about four days of continuous investigation, the first important clue was found and the accused Suraj Pandey was arrested from Anand Vihar Bus Terminal on September 12. Rs 17 lakh cash and an Apple iPhone purchased with the looted money were recovered from his possession.

After this, on September 13, Adarsh ​​Tiwari and Deepak Goswami were arrested from Nawada. Rs 32.5 lakh and a new motorcycle purchased with the looted money were recovered from their possession. On the same day, Sandeep alias Sandy was arrested from Faridabad, from whom Rs 11 lakh was recovered.

The alleged main conspirator Rinku was arrested by the police from Ludhiana, Punjab. Rs 37.5 lakh were recovered from his possession. In this way, according to the police, the total looted amount of around Rs 1 crore has been recovered.

Receipt of cash movement was done in Chandni Chowk

Investigation revealed that the accused had kept an eye on the movement of cash in Chandni Chowk area. According to the police, the main conspirator Rinku and his associates identified the person carrying the cash and chased him after boarding the TSR.

Police say that the accused had planned to carry out the crime by stopping the TSR at a deserted place. All the accused were given different responsibilities in the conspiracy and crime.

Threatened with pistol-like lighter, not real pistol

An important thing has come to light in the investigation of this case. According to the police, the weapon with which the accused threatened the victims during the incident was not a real pistol but a pistol-shaped lighter. The police have recovered it.

One accused still absconding

The accused named Prince is still absconding in the case. The police is raiding for his arrest. Besides, the recovery of the remaining looted amount and the role of any other person in the incident is also being investigated.

The entire action took place under the supervision of DCP Central Rohit Rajbir Singh. The investigation team was supervised by Additional DCP Central Prashant Chaudhary, ACP Daryaganj Dheeraj Narang and ACP Ops Padam Singh Rana. The team was led by SHO Daryaganj Inspector Ajay Sharma, IC Special Staff Inspector Sandeep Yadav and IC AATS Inspector Sandeep Dabus.

According to Madhur Verma (IPS), Joint Commissioner of Police, Central Range, Delhi Police, further investigation in the case is going on and efforts are being made to arrest the absconding accused soon.
