Lucknow. The month of October has brought relief for the electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh. This month we may see a reduction of 5.24 percent in the electricity bill. UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has fixed the Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge i.e. FPPAS at -5.24 percent for October.
Saving of about Rs 425 crore
Electricity consumers will directly benefit from this reduction. According to estimates, consumers will save a total of about Rs 424.45 crore due to this relief in October. This decision has been taken on the basis of the cost of power purchase and distribution in July.
In July, UPPCL had purchased about 16,407.07 million units of electricity. Its average procurement cost stood at ₹4.69 per unit, which was lower than the approved ₹4.94 per unit. Due to this difference, negative FPPAS was decided for October.
Relief received for the fourth consecutive month
The special thing is that October is the fourth consecutive month when the electricity bills of consumers have decreased through FPPAS. Earlier, relief of 4.43 percent was given in July, 2.92 percent in August and 7.93 percent in September.
According to UPPCL, this system is implemented as per the prescribed regulatory rules. In such a situation, consumers will see the direct benefit of this reduction in the electricity bill of October.
