By-elections in six assemblies of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry, voting continues
Voting for by-elections is being held on Tuesday in six assembly and Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry. There was a very vigorous campaign before the elections on these seats. The six seats where voting is taking place include Nandigram and Rejinagar in West Bengal, Madurantakam and Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu, Thatnachavady in Puducherry and Nagaon Lok Sabha seat in Assam. By-elections are being held on all these seats because the sitting MLAs had resigned after the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections held in April 2026. Many of these leaders had contested elections from two different seats and later kept one seat for themselves and left the other.
