Ishan Kishan’s big statement after the stormy innings of 81 runs, said – ‘It is more important than a century’

Ishan Kishan Post Match Statement On Missing Century: India’s wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan, after playing a brilliant inning of 81 runs in the second T20 match against Zimbabwe, said that he had a chance to complete a century, but scoring runs quickly was more important for the team than individual achievement.

Ishaan’s brilliant batting

In the second T20 match played at Harare Sports Club, Ishan Kishan scored 81 runs in 44 balls. His innings included 9 fours and 2 sixes. Thanks to Ishaan’s brilliant batting, India made a big score of 219/5 in 20 overs. In reply, Indian bowlers bowled out Zimbabwe for 129 runs and India won by 90 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

What did Ishaan Kishan say?

In his statement, Ishan Kishan said that he never thought about a century. He said, ‘To be honest, I did not have a century in my mind. I was trying to play big shots on every ball. I had the option of playing a little slower and completing my century, but for me the team always comes first.’

Lots of praise for Tilak Verma

Ishaan also praised vice-captain Tilak Verma. Tilak scored unbeaten 60 runs in just 29 balls and both the batsmen made a partnership of 94 runs for the fourth wicket, taking India beyond 200 runs.

Ishaan said, ‘When Tilak Verma came to bat, he did not take any time and started playing his shots as soon as he came. This also gave me a lot of confidence and felt that we are building a good partnership.’ He told that there was continuous conversation between the two batsmen, because the pitch was not as easy as it seemed after looking at the score.

‘We were batting well and talking continuously in the middle. The wicket was not easy, the ball was sometimes up and sometimes down. Tilak also showed great intelligence, maintained the run pace and understood the needs of the team. In the end we got a big score.’

Ishan Kishan also thanked the Indian cricket fans present in Harare. He said, ‘It is difficult to express in words the support of Indian fans after coming to Zimbabwe. They come to watch every match and encourage us. If they want to take a picture with us, I’m happy to do that. Even today we received tremendous support. We wholeheartedly thank all the fans.’

After the brilliant batting of Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma, the Indian bowlers also performed well. Abhishek Sharma, being the most successful bowler, gave only 17 runs by taking 3 wickets. India bowled out Zimbabwe for 129 runs and won the match by 90 runs and clinched the series.
