'It's time to remove Raja', Raja Wadding became helpless in front of Sachin Pilot?

Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Vading on Friday formally resigned from the post of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President. He submitted this resignation to Rahul Gandhi. Raja Vading was the President of the State Congress for about four and a half years. This resignation comes amid reports of change of leadership before the 2027 assembly elections. He has expressed his suspicion in clear words that Sachin Pilot wanted Raja Vading to step down.

Raja Vading indicated that the party's Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot may have a role in this decision. However, he said that he does not have any concrete evidence in its favor. He has said that perhaps Sachin Pilot might have felt that Raja should be removed now, there is no other issue.

Looking at my long political journey, I think Sachin Pilot must have decided that now is the time to remove Raja from the post. I don't have definite proof of this. Perhaps the General Secretary felt that Raja should be removed. Apart from this there is no special issue. I have told Rahul Gandhi what I had to say. After Rahul Gandhi, there is no one left whom I can explain.

The post is gone, what will Raja Vading do now?

Amarinder Singh Raja Vading said that the situation became normal after meeting Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi sought his opinion on the political situation in Punjab, the activities of the state government and the party's future strategy. He talked about the challenges and strengths of the party. He assured Rahul Gandhi that he is ready to serve whenever the party deems it necessary. He also expressed gratitude to Rahul Gandhi for giving him the opportunity to lead the state Congress in difficult circumstances.

Is Raja Vading happy with his tenure?

Raja Vading expressed satisfaction over his tenure. He said that he happily accepts the party's decisions. After the meeting, he went straight to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib with his wife and offered ardas. He said that whether the tenure is long or short, it should be such that people remember. According to him, his tenure as minister was also equally memorable.

Is Charanjit Singh Channi spoiling the equation of Punjab?

Amarinder Singh Raja Vading was made the President of Punjab Congress in 2022, replacing Navjot Singh Sidhu. His resignation comes at a time when there are reports of differences between him and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi over the leadership of Punjab Congress. The party is struggling with factionalism as it prepares for the 2027 elections.

What Bhupesh Baghel could not do, will Sachin Pilot do?

Congress party has recently handed over the responsibility to Sachin Pilot in place of AICC in-charge Bhupesh Baghel. Bhupesh Baghel had tried to resolve differences between the groups by staying in Punjab for several weeks. Former Minister of State Vijay Inder Singla is considered to be ahead in the race for the post of State President. Inder Singla is also the co-treasurer of AICC and looks after the party's properties.
