John Ternes has taken over as the new CEO of the company from 1 September 2026. 51-year-old Ternes has replaced Tim Cook, who headed Apple for nearly 15 years. Cook will now play the role of executive chairman. Turnus has also been included in Apple's board of directors.
Journey from mechanical engineer to CEO
John Ternes started his career as a mechanical engineer. Before joining Apple, he worked at Virtual Research Systems. In 2001, he joined Apple's product design team and gradually reached the top position in the company by holding important responsibilities.
In 2013, he became Vice President of Hardware Engineering and in 2021 got the responsibility of Senior Vice President. After a long journey of about 25 years, he has now become the CEO of the company. He is the third CEO of Apple after Steve Jobs and Tim Cook.
What is his earning and net worth?
Before becoming CEO, Ternus' annual base salary was said to be around $1 million. His annual earnings, including bonuses and share-based awards, have been much higher than this. In some media reports, his net worth has been estimated at around $75 million. However, this is not an official figure.
