Meerut Mavericks registered their second consecutive win in UP T20 League Season 4. On the basis of Swastik Chikara's brilliant innings and Karnik Tyagi's deadly bowling, Meerut Mavericks continued their winning streak by defeating Gorakhpur Lions by 36 runs.
On the strength of the stormy innings of Swastik Chikara (82 runs, 45 balls, 9 sixes, 4 fours) and the fast bowling of Karnik Tyagi, Meerut Mavericks registered their second consecutive win by defeating Gorakhpur Lions by 36 runs in the fifth match of UP T-20 League Season 4.
Batting first, Meerut scored the highest score of 206 runs of the season so far. Swastik Chikara batted brilliantly and took the team to a strong position. In reply, Gorakhpur Lions team could score only 170 runs in the stipulated overs.
The match played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium was started by the State Government's Minister of State with Independent Charge Nitin Agarwal and Councilor Manoj Pandey by conducting the toss.
Gorakhpur Lions won the toss and decided to bowl first. Meerut Mavericks captain Rinku Singh gave a good start to the team, but he was out in the third over. After this Swastik Chikara and Raghav Sharma took over the innings.
Swastik Chikara played a brilliant inning of 82 runs. Raghav Sharma scored 44 runs. There was a partnership of 86 runs between the two. After this, Karan Sharma took the team's score forward by scoring 24 runs in 16 balls.
Meerut Mavericks scored 206 runs in 20 overs. Gorakhpur Lions did not have a good start while chasing the target. Karnik Tyagi bowled brilliantly and gave the initial shock. Gorakhpur team could score only 170 runs.
Swastik Chikara also completed his 100th six in the UP T-20 League. He became the second batsman to do so in the league. Earlier, he had hit 97 sixes and in the match he completed the figure of 101 sixes by hitting four sixes.
This is the second consecutive win for Meerut Mavericks. The team has made a great start to the season and presented its strong claim.
