Chandro Tomar Shooting Range located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh has been closed for a long time. According to reports, the responsibility of its operation was entrusted to Manav Rachna Shooting Range Academy but due to not working as per the set standards, its contract was terminated. Noida Authority GM SP Singh had told the media in April that a tender has been floated for operating the shooting ranch. The agency will be selected soon. However, Shefali Tomar, granddaughter of 'Shooter Dadi' Chandro Tomar, says that the shooting range is still locked.
Shefali has accused the Noida Authority of causing losses to thousands of players due to its arbitrariness. Shefali shared a video on social media platform 'X' on Wednesday (August 12) and said that her family wants to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and tell him about the situation of the shooting range but Noida Authority officials are not allowing them to meet. Let us tell you that 5 years ago, CM Yogi himself had named the shooting range after Chandro Tomar.
'Grandma's honor is being hurt'
Chandro Tomar started shooting at the age of 60. He won many competitions at the national level. When Bollywood portrayed the story of her struggles in the film 'Saand Ki Aankh', 'Shooter Dadi' became famous all over the world. Chandro Tomar died due to Corona infection in 2021. After this, CM Yogi had announced that the shooting range located in Noida will be known as Chandro Tomar. Then he had said that naming the shooting range is a tribute to mother power in line with the sentiments of the Mission Shakti campaign. But after just 5 years, players are not able to practice in the same shooting range.
Shefali said that due to the closure of the shooting range, the honor and respect of 'Shooter Dadi' is being hurt. He told, 'The shooting range located in Noida is locked. It has been closed for the last two-two and a half years. We are surprised to think this. Grandma is not among us and her honor and respect is being hurt. The future of young players is getting spoiled. They are not able to practice.
Shefali further said, 'If you keep a sports field locked, how will our young players practice? How will they bring medals, how will they bring glory to the country. How will they move forward?
Noida Authority corrupt – Shefali
Shefali has said in the video, 'Why is all this happening, because Noida Authority is doing its own thing. Thousands of our players are suffering losses due to his arbitrariness. That shooting range, built at a cost of Rs 14 crore, is completely closed and covered with cobwebs. His condition is very bad. His building is also deteriorating.
He further said, 'For the last 3 months, our family has been trying to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji and talk about this but some officials of Noida Authority and the minister who lives with them are not allowing us to meet. Our family is also very worried due to this. Noida authority is very corrupt.
