One youth killed, nine others injured when two boats collided in Gorakhpur’s Ramgarhtal

On Sunday night, a speedboat collided with a slow boat from behind near the boating area at Ramgarhtal. The accident killed 21-year-old Lakhmuddin, who was riding in the slowboat, while nine members of his family, including his brother, were injured.
After the collision, five people in the speedboat fell into the water and were rescued. The accident caused widespread uproar. As soon as the information was received, the police officials reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The injured were admitted to the district hospital.
The accident took place near Naukha at 8:55 pm on Sunday. 21-year-old Lakhmuddin Ansari, a resident of Hatana Pipra in Kushinagar district, was traveling in a slow boat to Ramgarhtal along with his brother Kaymuddin and other family members. A speedboat coming from behind collides with a slower boat.
The collision was so severe that the occupants of the slow boat fell into the water. This incident caused a lot of anger. The boatman and the boating family members took the injured to the district hospital, where doctors declared Lakhmuddin brought dead. He suffered a serious head injury.
Eight injured, including Lakhmuddin’s brother Qayamuddin Ansari and nephew Hamza, were discharged after first aid. Kayamuddin sustained a serious shoulder injury. This accident has created havoc in the family. Five people in the speedboat also fell into the water after the collision.
However, they somehow managed to get out and went home. On receiving information about the incident, CO Cantt Abha Singh and in-charge of Ramgarhtal police station reached the spot. Police have detained the speed boat operator and started questioning him. SP City Nimish Patil said Abhishek, who drove the slow boat, was also being questioned. The cause of the accident is under investigation. Action will be taken against the culprits.
