Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has joined Juventus from Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan with an option for a permanent transfer next summer, the Serie A club announced on Tuesday.
“Pape Matar Sarr is a new Juventus player. The Senegalese midfielder, born in 2002, joins Juventus after his experience in the Premier League with Tottenham, the club with which he continued his growth in European football,” said Juventus in an official statement.
Juventus has paid a loan transfer fee of £2.1 million (USD 2.8 million). The Serie A club can permanently sign Sarr for £23.56 million (USD 31.91 million) next summer with the amount payable in three financial years if certain conditions are met in the 2026-27 season.
The 23-year-old Sarr, who joined Spurs in 2021, made 37 appearances in all competitions for the North London club last season during which he scored two goals and provided four assists.
He has played 42 games for Senegal and was a member of the squad which reached the round of 32 at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Luciano Spallletti’s Juventus has begun the new Serie A season with wins over Frosinone and Parma. It hosts AC Milan in its next fixture on Sunday.
The Italian club will also compete in the Europa League.
