President Murmu accepts Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, Prahlad Joshi gets additional charge of Education Ministry

New Delhi, 25 July. President Draupadi Murmu on Saturday, on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accepted the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan with immediate effect. His resignation was accepted under Article 75(2) of the Constitution. Along with this, on the advice of the Prime Minister, the President approved to hand over the additional charge of the Education Ministry to Union Cabinet Minister Prahlad Joshi along with his existing ministries.

Prahlad Joshi got additional charge

According to a release issued by the President’s Secretariat, on the advice of the Prime Minister, Pralhad Joshi will now hold the additional charge of the Education Ministry along with his current ministries (Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines). This system has come into effect with immediate effect.

Resigned amid paper leak controversy

Dharmendra Pradhan resigns from Union Council of Ministers amid paper leak controversy. He said that his decision has been taken with the aim of protecting the interests of the students and saving the youth of the country from getting trapped in the ‘web of confusion’.

Commitment expressed in letter to Prime Minister

In his resignation letter sent to PM Modi, Dharmendra Pradhan reiterated his long-term commitment towards the education sector. He said that he is resigning from his post keeping in mind the larger interest of the students and the country. He also expressed confidence that the government will continue its efforts towards improving the education sector and strengthening the future of the youth.
