Rishabh Pant begins preparations ahead of Sri Lanka Test series, taking special tips from Dhoni

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has begun his preparations for the upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka. Pant is currently practicing with former Indian captain MS Dhoni and receiving valuable advice from him.

India is scheduled to play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka this month, in which Pant is a key player for Team India. In the only Test match against Afghanistan, Pant made a brilliant comeback, scoring 81 runs in the first innings.

However, Pant’s previous Test performances have been below expectations. He failed to make much of an impact with the bat in the home Test series against South Africa. Therefore, a better performance on the Sri Lanka tour is considered crucial for him.

Pant is learning from Dhoni

MS Dhoni is known for honing players’ potential and nurturing them to perform well in difficult situations. Pant is also currently going through a crucial phase in his career. Questions have been raised about his place in the ODI and T20 teams. He no longer holds the vice-captaincy of the Test team. In such a situation, Pant wants to strengthen his position in the team by scoring consistently. As part of this preparation, Pant has arrived in Ranchi, where he is training with MS Dhoni.

Shahbaz Nadeem shared the video

Former Indian spin bowler Shahbaz Nadeem shared a video on social media showing Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni working out at the gym. Along with the post, Nadeem wrote, “The two best finishers in Indian cricket, Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni bhai.”

Pant trying to make a comeback

Rishabh Pant’s performance in IPL 2026 was below expectations. He captained the Lucknow Super Giants, but the team failed to reach the playoffs.

Pant has now returned to the Delhi Capitals, where he began his IPL career. He is aiming to once again cement his place in Team India across all three formats with impressive performances.
