Rs 146 crore cash, gold and foreign currency, big revelation of corruption in raid at MP’s house

According to media reports, during the raid, about 20 billion Iraqi dinars, whose estimated value is approximately Rs 146 crore, were seized from the house of MP Alia Nassif. Apart from this, information about recovery of a large quantity of gold has also come to light. Let us tell you, Alia Nassif has held the responsibility of Chief of Staff during the tenure of former Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani.

This action is being said to be a part of the anti-corruption campaign being run against senior leaders, MPs and government officials in the country. Along with this, it is also being told that security forces raided several places in the Green Zone of Baghdad in the early hours.
$85 million worth of assets unearthed
During this operation, a total of property worth about 85 million dollars i.e. about Rs 805 crore has been detected from various locations. Due to this, the investigating agencies have also recovered billions of Iraqi dinars, foreign currency, gold and other valuables from many places. In some videos that have surfaced on social media, a large amount of cash is seen kept in a room, although these videos have not been independently confirmed.
When did the inquiry start?
According to the investigating officers, the links of this entire case came to light during the interrogation of former Deputy Oil Refining Minister Adnan Al-Jumaili. Several suspects were identified based on their statements given after being detained on corruption charges. After this, arrest warrants were issued from the court and raids were conducted at the residences of many leaders and officials.
According to reports, some suspects fled before the security agencies arrived, following which the entry gates of the Green Zone were sealed and the search for them was intensified.

Even before this, Iraqi authorities had claimed to have recovered more than $107 million in cases related to embezzlement of government funds. Now, according to the investigating agencies, the help of heavy machines had to be taken to extract the cash hidden under many private houses.
