S Sreesanth's father V Santhakumaran Nair dies at 89

Kochi: V Santhakumaran Nair, father of former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth, died at a private hospital on Friday night. He was 89.

Family sources said Nair was undergoing treatment at Lisie Hospital and died at around 9.45 pm. His death has left the family and relatives mourning the loss of a respected elder.

Body to be taken to family home on Sunday

Nair’s body is currently being kept at the hospital mortuary. It will be taken to the family home in Kothamangalam on Sunday after relatives arrive from abroad, family sources said.

The body will be kept for public viewing at the Kothamangalam residence from 10 am to 2 pm on Sunday allowing relatives, friends and well-wishers to pay their last respects.

The cremation is scheduled to take place at 4 pm.

Retired LIC official leaves behind family

Nair was a retired zonal manager with the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). He is survived by his wife, T N Savithridevi, and children Deepu, Nivedita, Divya and Sreesanth.

S Sreesanth represented India in international cricket across all three formats and was part of the Indian team that won the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

The family is expected to gather in Kothamangalam for the final rites and to bid farewell to Nair.

His death marks a deeply personal loss for Sreesanth and his family, who will come together to honour the memory of the former LIC official and family patriarch.
