Why did the Houthis attack?

This attack has come at a time when the informal peace that has been going on since 2022 between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi faction seems to be breaking. Houthi rebels have described the attack as revenge for Saudi Arabia’s bombing of Hodeida city in Yemen late on Friday night.

The Houthis’ Foreign Ministry had already warned that Saudi Arabia would have to suffer heavy damages for these attacks. It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia had targeted telecommunication facilities in Hodeida and Qamran Island, after which the Houthis retaliated.
