Mathura: In view of the crowd of lakhs of devotees gathering in Mathura-Vrindavan on Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival, the police has issued a detailed diversion plan for the traffic system. There will be a ban on entry of vehicles on the major routes of Mathura city and Vrindavan from 8 am on September 3 to 9 am on September 5. By stopping the movement of vehicles on the routes leading to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, the devotees will be taken to the designated parking places.
In the Janmabhoomi area, entry of vehicles will be restricted from many places including Bhuteshwar Tiraha, Masani Square, Deeg Gate, Gokran Tiraha, Chowk Bazaar, Bharatpur Gate, Krishnapuri, State Bank Square and Mahavidya Colony. Heavy vehicles, roadways buses and tractors will not be able to move from Govardhan Square and Mandi Square towards Bhuteshwar.
Routes of roadways buses also changed
To maintain the traffic system, roadways buses will be operated through the industrial area and warehouse route via Jaigurudev. Vehicular movement from Masani intersection towards Janmabhoomi and Chowk Bazaar will be completely closed. No vehicle will be allowed to enter the Janmabhoomi from Deeg Gate.
Four wheelers, commercial vehicles, tempos and e-rickshaws will be banned from State Bank Square towards Bharatpur Gate. Parking arrangements have been made in the market premises for vehicles coming from the highway.
Devotees' vehicles will be parked at these parking spots
Parking has been earmarked for the vehicles of devotees coming from Yamuna Expressway and Vrindavan side, in the vacant plot of PMB Polytechnic School, Jaisinghpura, Anuj Choudhary and in front of RK Jewellers.
Vehicles coming from Gokul Restaurant and Highway will be parked in front of RSS Sanstha, ISBT Bus Stand and Ramlila Maidan. Parking arrangements have been made at the railway ground for vehicles coming from Dhaulipyau.
No entry of heavy vehicles in Vrindavan also
Traffic will remain tight in Vrindavan on Janmashtami also. Entry of heavy vehicles will be restricted from many places including Chhatikara, Rukmini Vihar, Panigaon, Vrindavan Cut and Sau-Shaiya. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter beyond the multilevel parking on Chhatikara-Vrindavan road.
There will be a ban on entry of heavy and four-wheeler vehicles beyond Sau-Shaiya on the Mathura-Vrindavan road. For the devotees coming to Vrindavan, parking arrangements have been made at many places including ITI, Darukh, Mandi, Pawanhans Helipad, MVDA, Pashupaith, Paragliding and Shiva Dhaba.
Police appealed for cooperation
Traffic pressure in the city is likely to be heavy during Janmashtami. In such a situation, the police has appealed to the devotees to park their vehicles only at the designated parking spots and follow the diversion system. Police say that the purpose of the traffic arrangement is to save the devotees from any kind of trouble and to maintain smooth movement among the crowd.
