The four-day monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature began on Monday . Before the start of the session, Samajwadi Party (SP) MLAs protested on various issues in the Assembly premises. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to all parties to have healthy and positive discussions in accordance with democratic norms. Welcoming all the members upon their arrival at the Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the legislature is the most effective platform for discussing and resolving issues related to public interest. He said that this session is an important opportunity to deliberate on issues related to the poor, farmers, youth and women.
“Meaningful discussions should be held on issues of public interest.”
CM Yogi said that while maintaining the dignity of the House, all parties should engage in serious discussions on issues related to the state’s development and public health. He claimed that in recent years, approximately 60 million people have been lifted out of poverty and into the middle class. He said that Uttar Pradesh’s farmers are strengthening the state’s economy through their hard work, and farmers’ incomes have increased significantly compared to before.
Enumerates government’s efforts for women and youth
The Chief Minister said that the state government is constructing hostels for the convenience of working women. Furthermore, due to the improved industrial environment, youth are finding employment opportunities in their own districts. Referring to the Kanwar Yatra, he said that devotees of Lord Shiva are undertaking the pilgrimage with devotion throughout the state. Extensive arrangements have been made for their safety and welcome. He added that starting August 7th, MLAs will also participate in Kanwar Yatra receptions. He also stated that the government is continuously working for the welfare of outsourced workers.
SP MLAs protested
Meanwhile, before the session began, Samajwadi Party MLAs gathered near the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh to protest. They carried posters and donation boxes. They raised slogans against the government over issues such as alleged irregularities in Ram Temple donations, the NEET paper leak, and teacher recruitment.
The government’s counterattack on the opposition’s allegations
Regarding the opposition’s protest, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that the opposition has no concrete issues and is merely trying to create a political atmosphere. Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that the state government is ready to answer all questions related to development and public interest.
Supplementary budget will be presented on the second day
On the second day of the four-day monsoon session, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna will present the first supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. The government is also preparing to pass nine ordinances and table the report of the judicial commission formed to investigate the Sambhal violence.
