Big news has come out regarding the West Indies cricket team. Cricket West Indies has announced its 15-member team for the Test series against Sri Lanka. This two-match test series will start from June 25.

Sports News: The West Indies Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. In this series starting from June 25, many important players have returned, which has strengthened both the balance and experience of the team. The biggest news is the return of fast bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph to the Test team. Apart from this, wicketkeeper-batsman Joshua da Silva and young batsman Amir Jangu have also been included in the team.

Fast bowling unit got a big boost

Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph, who were out for the last few months due to injury, have now returned to the team fully fit. Both bowlers were last seen in the home Test series against Australia in 2025. His return has strengthened the West Indies fast bowling attack, which already includes experienced bowlers like Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Joshua Da Silva has again made a place in the national team on the basis of his excellent performance in domestic cricket. In the West Indies Championship, he scored 413 runs in 7 innings and was the top run-scorer of the tournament. His return comes in place of Tevin Imlach, who did not perform as expected in the last Test series.

Amir Jangu also got a chance

Left-handed batsman Amir Jangu has also been included in the Test team. He recently caught the attention of the selectors by scoring 411 runs in 7 innings in the domestic season. This marks his return to the national team after making his debut in the Multan Test against Pakistan in January 2025. The West Indies team is currently struggling in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 cycle.

The team is at ninth position in the points table after seven defeats in the first eight Tests. In such a situation, this series against Sri Lanka is being considered an important opportunity for the team to make a comeback and gain confidence.

Ahead of the series, the West Indies team is taking part in a high-performance training camp in Antigua, which will run from June 12 to June 22. Players who recently played white-ball series are also included in this preparation camp.
