Zendaya is impressed by Tom Holland’s commitment to his Spider-Man, both in and out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Recently, during an interview with Rotten Tomatoes alongside Holland, the actress who stars as Spidey’s love interest, MJ, reflects on her husband’s fondness for his character and how he brings it into real life.
“My favorite thing about Tom’s Spider-Man is how Tom handles Spider-Man outside of Spider-Man,” Zendaya said. “So many people connect to this character, to Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, and especially young people, especially children, and I think that he’s just handled that weight with such grace.”
Zendaya noted Holland’s “love and care” for the character while he considers other people’s attachment to the character.
The Dune star added that the superhero character brings a responsibility for the one who plays it because “when you are in front of these kids, you are Spider-Man.”
“You are this person to them,” Zendaya said, addressing Holland directly. “I just love seeing what and how you carry Spider-Man through your life in real life.”
Holland recently reflected on the pressure of returning as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which opened to a record-breaking $927 million worldwide.
Speaking to Kino TV, the actor said the success of his previous Spider-Man films and Avengers blockbusters made him realise the immense scale of the role.
He admitted he was at his most nervous returning to set but found the experience even more rewarding because of those nerves.
