New Delhi: The process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list is going on in Karnataka. Let us tell you, the phase of collecting information about voters by going door-to-door has been completed. Now the first draft voter list is awaited to be released. Based on the current data, names of about 1.08 crore voters are expected to be left out of the draft list.
5.54 crore forms were distributed
About 5.54 crore forms were distributed in Karnataka under SIR. Of these, about 4.46 crore forms have been digitized so far. According to the data, there are 15,28,985 voters who could not be verified. Whereas 65,61,607 voters have permanently shifted to another place. Apart from this, 16,38,839 such names have emerged in which voters have been declared dead. About 7,07,792 records have been found duplicate or fake. Based on these figures, there is a possibility that a large number of names will not be included in the draft voter list.
Keep an eye on these dates
The first draft voter list will be released in Karnataka on August 24. After this, voters will get a chance to register claims or objections on mistakes related to name, address or other information in the list. Claims and objections can be filed from August 24 to September 23. After this, the final voter list will be published on October 27.
SIR process continues in Delhi also
In Delhi too, door-to-door survey work has been completed under the SIR campaign. The deadline of the campaign was extended twice in the capital, but despite this, till now only 66.84 percent of the forms have been mapped to the old voter records and digitized. According to the data of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, more than 33 percent i.e. more than 48 lakh forms in the list of about 1.45 crore voters of Delhi have not yet been submitted or digitized. In such a situation, there is a possibility that the names of these voters will be left out in the draft list. However, they will get an opportunity to add their names or make corrections in the records later through claims and objections. At present, the third phase of SIR is going on in 16 states and 3 union territories including Delhi.
