To give a new direction to development in Gujarat, emphasis has been laid on semiconductors, renewable energy and modern infrastructure. Along with improving civic amenities, the government has also prepared a roadmap for a developed Gujarat @2047.
Knews desk- During the five-year tenure of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, special attention was paid to the development and administrative reforms of the state. The government has taken several important steps to promote future technologies, industrial investment, urban amenities and public welfare schemes. A budget of Rs 4.08 lakh crore, 19 new policies and agreements reached in regional investment conferences are among the major achievements of the state's development journey.
Four Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences were organized to take investment in Gujarat to different parts of the state. During these conferences, MoUs were signed for a total investment of Rs 17.4 lakh crore. The government claims that these initiatives have boosted industrial activities and employment opportunities.
To strengthen Gujarat's role in technology-based industries, special emphasis was laid on the semiconductor sector. Six semiconductor plants have been approved in the state, out of which commercial production has started in three. Apart from this, investment is also being encouraged in areas like AI and advanced manufacturing.
Administrative Reforms from UCC to Digital Services
During the tenure of Bhupendra Patel government, Uniform Civil Code i.e. UCC Bill was passed in Gujarat. According to the government, its aim is to strengthen the principles of equality, justice and unity. At the same time, work has also been done towards making government services paperless, cashless and faceless through Digital Gujarat.
Gujarat State Institution for Transformation i.e. GRIT was formed on the lines of NITI Aayog. Along with this, Gujarat Administrative Reforms Commission i.e. GARC was established. Through these institutions, the aim has been set to promote data-based policy making, administrative efficiency and result-oriented governance.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Developed India @2047, Gujarat prepared the roadmap of Developed Gujarat @2047. Under this scheme, work is being done to make the state an economically strong, technologically capable and inclusive development state.
2025 celebrated as the year of urban development
Gujarat government declared the year 2025 as the year of urban development. Under this, emphasis was laid on modern infrastructure, better transport system and increasing civic amenities in cities. The aim of the government is to improve the quality of life and ease of living in urban areas.
Gujarat government has started many schemes for the development of youth and children. Namo Lakshmi Yojana was implemented to provide secondary and higher secondary education to daughters. Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana was started with the aim of encouraging students to study in the Faculty of Science.
Apart from this, Chief Minister Nutritious Snacks Scheme to provide nutritious breakfast along with mid-day meal to primary school children and Namo Shri Scheme for health and nutrition of pregnant women were implemented.
Emphasis on use of technology in revenue department
Reforms were made in revenue processes to provide easy access to government services to citizens. Efforts were made to make government work more convenient and faster for the people through the use of technology and simplification of procedures.
In the last five years, Gujarat hosted international events like G-20 meetings, Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet & Expo 2024. Through these events, the state got an opportunity to showcase its potential on the global platform of investment and trade. Gujarat is also preparing to host the Commonwealth Games in the year 2030.
New possibilities in renewable energy and AI
The Gujarat government has included emerging sectors like renewable energy, semiconductor and artificial intelligence among its development priorities. Emphasis has been laid on preparing the state for the future economy through efforts related to industrial investment, education, health, urban development and social welfare.
According to the government, 19 policies and various development schemes implemented in the last five years have laid the foundation of new opportunities for Gujarat. Through these initiatives, efforts are being made to advance the goal of developed Gujarat and developed India.
