In the last week of this month, two different Indian cricket teams will be seen on the field. Team India can be announced for the West Indies series on Wednesday (September 16). A meeting of the selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar is to be held in Delhi. Rishabh Pant's name is likely to be discussed in this meeting. Ishan Kishan will be busy in the Asian Games. In such a situation, Pant can be selected as the second wicketkeeper in the ODI team. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj may also return. Now it remains to be seen whether the selectors give one last chance to experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami or not.

Shami played his last international match one and a half years ago
Mohammed Shami, who has turned 36, was recently seen playing in the Duleep Trophy. He took 7 wickets in 5 innings for East Zone. He is continuously sweating in domestic cricket for the 2027 ODI World Cup but the selectors are not looking at him. Shami was last seen playing for Team India in the Champions Trophy 2025. He is the highest wicket taker for India in the ODI World Cup.

Shami has taken 55 wickets in just 18 matches in the World Cup. In the overall list, he is jointly ranked fifth with Wasim Akram. Despite continuous neglect by the selectors, Shami has not given up hope. However, his chances of being selected against West Indies are less. Now young fast bowlers are being tried. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav and Prasidh Krishna can be seen handling the fast bowling department. These three fast bowlers were part of the last ODI series.
